A practical outfit checklist for a UK wedding weekend

Pack for the ceremony, the journey and the weather without carrying three emergency bags.

Plan each event on one page
Write down the ceremony, reception and any smaller gatherings. Next to each, note the venue, time, expected dress code and whether you will be outside. This prevents packing an elaborate outfit for a casual gathering or forgetting a suitable layer for photographs.
Try each outfit as a complete look
Put on the blouse, saree or suit, outer layer, shoes and bag together. Walk and sit for a few minutes. Check the length of the hem with the shoes you will actually wear and make sure your coat fits over the final outfit.
Pack for changing temperatures
A UK venue can be warm inside and cold outside. A shawl or a tailored coat is useful when it works with more than one outfit. Keep a practical travel pair of shoes if your event shoes are not suited to wet pavements.
Keep a small repair kit
A few safety pins, fashion tape if you use it, a spare earring back and a stain wipe can solve common clothing problems. Carry only items you already know how to use. Put jewellery in a separate pouch to avoid snagging delicate fabrics.
Make the journey easier
If travelling by train or staying overnight, hang crease-prone pieces as soon as you arrive. Take a photo of each complete outfit before packing, so getting dressed is quicker. Check the venue guidance for religious or cultural requirements rather than assuming one dress code fits every event.
